Standardized (ASTM) Testing
Dyne
Technologies offers the following ASTM Test Method Services.
Specific Gravity
Hydrometer ASTM Method E 100-95 (Reapproved 2001) Standard Specifications for
ASTM Hydrometers
This specification covers glass hydrometers graduated in systems required by
the various tests in which their use is required. The range that can be
measured is 0.650 to 1.500.
Density Pycnometer
General Procedure for Density and Specific Gravity Using Weight per Gallon Cup
This procedure is used to determine the density of a liquid by use of a weight
per gallon cup. This cup is a special rugged pycnometer, especially designed
for the determination of a density at a single temperature (25°C), with an
accuracy sufficient for most industrial applications. Specific gravity can be
calculated from the measured density.
Refractive Index:
ASTM D1218-99 Standard Test Method for Refractive Index and Refractive
Dispersion of Hydrocarbon Liquids
This procedure describes the method to measure the refractive index on a wide
variety of liquid samples using the Milton Roy Abbe-3L refractometer. It has a
standard range of 1.30 to 1.71 n, and can be operated with rigid temperature
control.
pH
General Procedure for Determination of pH
This procedure describes the method to measure the pH of a sample using an
analog pH meter.
Viscosity
General Procedure for Brookfield Viscosity
This procedure is used to determine the viscosity of materials in the range of
5 to 100,000 cps. The Brookfield viscometer measures the amount of drag
produced by rotating a calibrated spindle in a liquid.
Conductivity
General Procedure for Determination of the Conductivity of Liquid Solutions
Range of conductivity from 0.0 to 199.9 mSiemen.
Evaluation of Wetting Agents
AATCC Test Method 17-1999
This test method determines the efficiency of ordinary commercial wetting
agents.
