Firefighting Foam Testing and Reminder Service for Marine Applications
Dyne Technologies is pleased to offer fire-fighting foam testing services that comply with the United States Coast Guard (Federal Registry 46 CFR Shipping Part 31) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO MSC/Circ. 582). The USCG requires annual testing of fire-fighting foam while the IMO requires annual testing after three years from installation.

In order to meet these specifications a sediment test is required in addition to the pH, specific gravity (density or volumic mass), foam expansion and 25% drain time. These two standards also require the performance testing be completed by mixing the foam concentrate with simulated sea water, not fresh water.
In addition, the IMO standard requires a two liter sample be sent in for testing—to ensure a representative sample—and that the sample be preconditioned at 60°C for 24 hours prior to testing. Dyne has developed a fire-fighting foam test kit, containing one 2-liter jar, paperwork, containment bag and shipping box specifically for applications that must comply with the IMO marine specification.
